Itinerary

Day 1 > Arrival in Hanoi – City Tour

Arrival at Noibai International Airport.
Reception by your English-speaking tour guide and transfer to Hanoi.
In the morning, you will take a city tour and visit, among others, Uncle Ho’s stilt house, the “One Pillar Pagoda,” and the Tran Quoc Pagoda, which dates back to the 6th century and is the oldest pagoda in Hanoi.
In the afternoon, you will enjoy a rickshaw ride around the Hoan Kiem Lake area. You will be driven through several narrow but lively and interesting streets and alleys of the Old Quarter. In the evening, you can enjoy a “fresh beer” on Ta Hien Street to experience Hanoi’s nightlife.

Breakfast at the hotel.
Departure for Ninh Binh; visit Tam Coc, a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site. In this scenic area, you will take a boat ride on a small river, surrounded by green rice fields and bizarre limestone mountains.
In the former imperial capital Hoa Lu, which was the Vietnamese capital between 968 and 1010, you will visit two temples dedicated to the Dinh and Le dynasties.

Breakfast at the hotel.
The entire day is at your leisure. Use the opportunity to explore Hanoi’s Old Quarter on your own.
Optional excursion: Visit the ceramic village of Bat Trang, where you can learn about the production of ceramic products in a Vietnamese workshop. The village lies only about 16 km from Hanoi on the Red River. Since the 14th century, its residents have specialized in porcelain and ceramics; since the 16th century, the typical blue-and-white decorated porcelain has also been produced here. The entire process—from shaping, painting, and glazing to firing—takes place in a compact area. Many workshops specialize in producing soup bowls or teacups for daily use.
Around 9:00 PM, your train departs for Lao Cai, the provincial capital in northern Vietnam.
Overnight on the train (sleeper car, 4-berth compartments).

Breakfast in a local restaurant.
Upon arrival in Lao Cai, you will be transferred by car to Sapa. Here live various ethnic minorities such as Mong, Dzao, Thai, and Muong. During the day, you will visit the villages of Ta Van and Ta Phin. On foot, you will explore these mountain villages and admire the stunning scenery of rice fields, mountains, and streams.
In the afternoon, enjoy some leisure time or stroll around Sapa’s center to visit the market and the small church.
Overnight in Sapa.

Breakfast at the hotel.
After breakfast, you will drive towards the Hoang Lien Son mountains, about 9 km west of Sapa. Today you will visit Fansipan, Vietnam’s highest mountain (3,143 m).
You will conquer the “Roof of Indochina” via the Fansipan cable car. This 3-cable system has a total length of almost 6.3 km. The height difference between the valley station and the summit station is 1,410 m. From the cabin, you can admire the magnificent nature, the beautiful Muong Hoa Valley, and the Hoang Lien National Park.
Afterwards, return by car to Hanoi.
